How to Fight Your Inner Demons, Worries & Self Doubts?

We all have our share of days when we wallow in self pity. Hurl ourselves at the sharp spear of low self esteem. Me, I just had a big dose of the aforementioned. But, (oh there’s always a ‘but’)

Valar Morghulis!

And so once again I killed the Demon of Negativity that resided in me.

But what made me do that?

I guess it had to be the domino effect the negativity had in my life. One teeny tiny little negative thought and there it was, the drama that comes free of cost.

Stress, irritation, self-doubt.

The worst part, I argued with and hurt the only person who truly understands me.

A few months ago, I read a book –

“Beyond the Power of Your Subconscious Mind.”

Trust me when I say, it made me more mindful of my thought process.

The book makes a strong point in rebuking the popular belief that, its the brain that controls us. And damn right we are so wrong. There is a misconception amongst most of us, improve your performance and then think better of oneself. In reality, it should be the other way round. The subconscious mind is the most powerful tool we all have to bring about positive change in our lives.

It all boils down to our thought process. In lay man’s terms, what you feed your brain reflects in your life. Feed it negativity and that’s what your life will be.

Then how exactly are we supposed to harness the power of our subconscious mind?

Self talk develops self concept. Self talk is nothing but affirmations. An affirmation is a statement of fact or belief. When you form an affirmation you construct the sentence in first person, in the present tense, describing the end result you desire as if it were today.

E.g. Don’t say “My business will improve” rather “I am a very successful businessman and find ways to improve my business each day.”

The book mentions that whenever your subconscious mind accepts any idea, good or bad, it immediately begins to execute it. Positive self talk & positive visualization are the easiest ways to harness the true potential of your mind.

Now you might wonder, in spite of reading a book that I claim has changed the way I look at things, why on earth did I have that bought of self doubt?

Well, that is something no book can teach us. Perseverance and will power. Just talking or reading about positive thinking isn’t enough. It is a choice you have to make every single day. Oh and don’t even for a minute underestimate life and her cruel ways. She’ll bend you and break you. But you have the choice to stand up and fight back.

But the question is... Will You?
