Dahi Handi Celebrations 2016 In Cummins College of Engineering for Women, Pune

With the soothing spray of rain here comes a beautiful festival, inviting the melody of Lord’s Krishna’s flute, “Janmashtami”. It’s an occasion where people learn team work to achieve height and taste the sweet juice of life.

Is it like only boys can participate in it?

Wait. Check this out.

Here comes the heart of Dahi Handi, MATKI. Having the joy for which every department is striving hard to pour over CCOEW. Girls are extremely enthusiastic to break that matki and make the entire college taste their triumph. The zeal with which they practiced really deserves the sweetest fruit garnished with Kanha’s blessings.

“Practice makes the woman perfect!” Indeed! During the final play it may not be seen but the efforts and pain that the participants took in past two weeks is really appreciable. A combination of every emotion whether it is MADNESS-HARDWORK-EXCITEMENT-ENERGY could be seen on every one’s face.

Since the competition is in between 5 departments – IT, COMP, INSTRU, MECH & ENTC, cheering for our own department is not a thing to be missed! And when it’s department wise, cold war is sure to happen. It not only sends a chill down our spine but also spreads the air of excitement in the quadrangle.

Finally it’s the time to break the silence and start the competition. Everyone’s heart beat is racing and still they are making best efforts to cheer the pillars of the PYRAMID. The human pyramid builds up to the handi and with one strike it breaks into pieces! A round of applause and cheers makes our QUADRANGLE LIVE!

Finally one of the department wins and the satisfaction and happiness is worth seeing. Nothing can dominate over the cheering crowd of winning team and when music is combined, it is like being in a mini Gokul of CUMMINS. This Immense joy seen on faces of winning team is eyes-pleasing.

The One With The D.A.N.C.E

“Yaar Cummins mein aaye aur dance nhi kiye, toh kya khaak cummins aaye!!”. It’s said that the best way to express happiness is to dance and it can be felt well in the air surrounding the Quadrangle. The dance floor is no less than that seen with guys out there!

The F.I.N.A.L One

“Jitni taarif kare humare ladkiyon ki utna kam hai!”

Every girl here; whether she is a volunteer, participant or panel member, cannot stand steady when the celebrations go on in full swing in Quadrangle. They have to shake their legs on dance floor and show off the dance skills.

All said and done, the life in Cummins incomplete without the dahi-handi celebrations. If you ask any alumni of Cummins – what they miss about Cummins life? Dahi Handi celebrations would be the prompt reply! 😉

Right girls..?
