Vyapaar Manan 3.0: One Rupee At A Time
On January 30-31, 2026, Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce (BMCC) hosted Vyapaar Manan 3.0, the Finance Club’s flagship event that transformed finance education from classroom theory into hands-on experience. Over 125 teams from colleges across Pune competed in strategic simulations, solved real-world business cases, and learned directly from industry experts over two intensive days.
The event successfully achieved its core mission: making finance interactive, competitive, and application-oriented for students across all academic backgrounds. Participants learned about financial concepts, applied them under pressure, made high-stakes decisions, and experienced the challenges and rewards of real-world finance.
Vyapaar Manan 3.0 was made possible through the support of Title Sponsor UTI Mutual Fund, Associate Sponsor FinStreet Education, and Youth Media Partner, Campus Times Pune. Their involvement elevated the event’s quality and expanded its reach across Pune’s student community.
Key Competitions: Finance Through Simulation
Vyapaar Manan featured four distinct competitions, each focused on a different aspect of the financial ecosystem and encouraged participants to apply concepts that they have learnt in classrooms to win these competitions.
Vyapaar Vichaar
Vyapaar Vichaar, the flagship case study competition tested participants’ problem solving skill by challenging them to tackle real-world business scenarios across three industries: Telecommunications, Hospitality, and Artificial Intelligence, conducting comprehensive research, financial modeling, and strategic analysis to prepare an Initial Public Offering (IPO) proposal for a hypothetical company. They went against fellow participants and proved they have what it takes to impress a panel of seasoned experts and emerge as the winner.
Rupee Run
Rupee Run brought high-energy intensity to financial learning. This multi-round quiz competition tested participants’ financial awareness, business fundamentals, and market knowledge at a rapid pace. Designed to assess both speed and accuracy, each round escalated in difficulty, separating those with surface-level knowledge from those with deep conceptual clarity. Participants had to think on their feet, make quick decisions, and maintain precision under time pressure.

Fraud Files
In this immersive detective experience, participants stepped into the role of corporate investigators tasked with uncovering an insider trading scheme within a company. The fraud involved multiple suspects, each with potential motives and connections to the illegal trading activity. Teams gathered evidence, analyzed financial documents and trading patterns, and conducted interrogations of suspects to piece together the complex web of deceit. Participants had the opportunity to directly question individuals involved in the case, extracting crucial information while distinguishing truth from carefully crafted alibis. The competition also incorporated an escape room element, where teams had to solve puzzles and unlock critical evidence under time pressure. This added layer of challenge required participants to think creatively, collaborate effectively, and manage their time strategically while building their case.

Investor’s Island
Investors Island was a competitive simulation of real world investing, asset building, and market positioning. Participants were required to use their foresight, adaptability, and step into the shoes of a real life investor. With shifting market conditions and high pressure decisions, only those who read the room correctly and played the long game truly thrived and won. It focused on strategic thinking and portfolio management through a market simulation based format. The competition unfolded across multiple rounds, the first being the auction round where participants analysed news headlines and contents to make an informed decision about bidding and buying properties, this round was followed by the life size Monopoly style board where participants became the pawns and took rounds of the board, buying, selling, and negotiating their way to the best portfolios. This allowed participants to actively learn and apply investment concepts in a practical and engaging environment.

Workshops: Building Skills Beyond The Arena
Beyond competition, Vyapaar Manan 3.0 prioritized practical education through two expert-led workshops that equipped students with essential knowledge for their financial and professional journeys.
Workshop 1: Investor’s Awareness Program by UTI Mutual Fund
The first workshop was an Investor Awareness session taken by UTI Mutual Fund that introduced students to the key aspects of personal finance, including: inflation, real returns, mutual fund structures, investment categories, and goal-based planning. The session highlighted the importance of consistency, discipline, compounding and saving, and making informed investing decisions especially for students at the beginning of their financial journey.
Workshop 2: What AI Cant Do, Human Careers Can
Reinforcing the learnings of day 1 was a guest lecture by Prof. Ratna Udgaonkaron on What AI Cant Do, Human Careers Can. The session encouraged students to reflect and introspect on the irreplaceable human skills that they possess: responsibility, judgment, communication, and emotional intelligence in an increasingly AI driven world around them. Through interactive discussions and real life scenarios that were being presented the lecture offered a valuable perspective on career preparedness beyond technical classroom knowledge.
Feedback, Effort and Execution
Vyapaar Manan 3.0 was followed by participants’ feedback which highlighted their appreciation for the event’s structure and activities. Post-event interactions and interviews showed that students valued the practical exposure and the opportunity to engage with finance in a realistic and engaging manner like never before.
The successful execution of Vyapaar Manan 3.0 was only possible due to the dedicated efforts of the Finance Club members which consisted of the organising team, volunteers, and faculty members. From planning and coordination to execution, everyone involved played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth conduct of events across both the days. Everyone’s collaboration and commitment was commendable and significant in delivering an experience that was enriching and memorable.
With each upcoming edition, the Finance Club of Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce (BMCC) will continue to build a space for students that encourages curiosity, meaningful discussions, and practical engagement. As Vyapaar Manan grows, it aims to leave a legacy that extends beyond competitions, offering enriching experiences that students from diverse backgrounds will continue to look forward to embracing in the years ahead.
