The Story Behind Unmute
Unmute began with a simple conversation between a teacher and her first student.
What started as a brainstorming session between co-founders Supriya Karandikar and Om Pawar soon evolved into a larger question,
Why isn’t there a space where young people can openly discuss ideas, voice opinions, challenge assumptions, and refine their thinking?
From that question, Unmute was born.

How Unmute Works?
Unmute functions through two distinct formats, each designed to make learning interactive and accessible.
The first is Unmute’s signature conversation circles, coffee-table discussions where participants actively engage with one another while learning from mentors and subject matter experts.
Every voice matters, every perspective is heard, and every participant leaves with new insights.
The second format consists of expert-led sessions, where accomplished professionals address larger audiences on technical, professional, or specialised topics, making complex ideas accessible and relevant to young minds.
A space for every Idea
At Unmute, we believe that no topic is too small, too unconventional, or too complex to be discussed.
Every subject has the power to shape perspectives and spark meaningful dialogue.
Whether it is finance, political science, sports, filmmaking, entrepreneurship, law, psychology, technology, art, culture, or environmental issues, we collaborate with experts across diverse fields to create conversations that matter.
Our Mission
Our mission goes beyond sharing information.
Founded by Om Pawar and Supriya Karandikar, Unmute aims to cultivate a generation of young people who can think critically, question thoughtfully, communicate respectfully, and engage confidently with the world around them.
Because informed opinions are not inherited, they are built through curiosity, conversation, and the courage to listen.
That is what Unmute stands for
