Scientia : The Annual Fest Of Science Forum Hindu College | 25th-27th Feb

The Science Forum, Hindu College is ecstatic to announce that we are organising Scientia – The Annual Fest of The Science Forum from 25th to 27th February.

Ain’t it merry to have fun while learning at the same time? Gone are those days when science was restricted only to academics. We believe that fests engage students and prepare them for the real world and this encourages them to participate and showcase their latent talent. Our Annual Fest, Scientia, includes activities and events that are a culmination of knowledge and amusement such as guest lectures, paper presentations, and science quizzes. This year, we’ll be having a plethora of events!

 

These are the things you should look forward to:

 

  1. Quizzeria: Online Science Quiz

What is it that you look for most in an event? A dare? Roll up your sleeves and get ready to stretch your cranial nerves. Quizzeria is an inter-departmental Science Quiz competition organized by The Science Forum, Hindu College as a part of its Annual Fest, Scientia. Register now to test your general science knowledge and bring fame to your department.

Timings: Round 1 – 4 PM

Round 2 – 6 PM

 

  1. Inkitt: The Essay Writing Competition

It’s always amazing when you’re given a platform to write! It enhances so many of your skills and asks for you to delve into the deepest of your emotions. This year, we have 3 themes for the competition that goes by ‘Women of Science’, ‘Ayurveda: A Blessing’ and Sustainable Future: Digital India’. Time for working in those ‘brain cells’, cause we have you covered.

Deadline for submission: February 23, 2021.

 

  1. JAM: The Extempore Competition

JAM is a fun-filled online live impromptu competition where the participants will be expected to speak for a minute on an assigned topic. So people, get those Shashi Tharoor skills polished, with a hint of Marie Curie!

  1. Posterphilia: The Poster Making Competition

What’s a better medium to communicate than art? We bring to you a poster making competition where you can submit handmade or digital posters on any one of the three themes that go by ‘Face the Space’, ‘Health is Wealth’ and ‘Social Awareness’. We’re looking forward to seeing wonderful pieces of art!

  1. Capture it All: The Photography Competition

A picture is worth a thousand words! Our themes for this event are ‘Patterns in Nature/Landscape’, ‘Moods and Emotions’ and ‘Animals’. Send in one picture that you connect to the most. Let nature unravel within you while you click!

Deadline for the registration: February 20, 2021.

Deadline for submission: February 23, 2021.

 

  1. Let’s Unscramble: The Wordplay Competition

Get those nerves working real hard while you try to unscramble a word related to science. My last two brain cells trying to unscramble the word ‘supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’? Trust me, it’ll be easier than that!

  1. Webinar on Intersection of Protein Biophysics and Synthetic Protein by Dr. Stephen Fried, Assistant Professor, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, United States.

What will be covered in the webinar?

  • Prebiotic Protein.
  • Protein Folding in vivo.
  • Loopable Translation.
  • Crosslinking Mass Spec.

  1. Webinar on Lichen Biotechnology by Dr. Eugênia Pereira, Professor, Pernambuco Federal University, Brazil.
