Collegedunia, or as we all know it as the hub of every possible information related to over 20,000+ colleges and universities across India have been a guiding support to many students since May 2014.
Recently Collegedunia successfully raised Rs. 1 Cr in angel funding from MIH-acquired automobile site Gaadi.com’s CEO Umang Kumar, 3.14 Digital and other investors.
Sahil Chalana, Founder of Collegedunia on the scope of Education Classifieds as a vertical said,
“The overall Spends on Education in the Digital Marketing space exceed 500 Crore and growing at more than 30% YoY. Although, print takes a big chunk of the 5000 Education Advertising Market, its moving much faster towards Digital.”
Collegedunia.com is also known as the search engine for anything related to colleges, universities, exams , courses and much more. According to Chalana, it plans to become the Zomato of the education industry.
The startup makes money from combination of listing and lead generation. Currently, it has 30 employees across technology, content, call center and sales departments and plans to hire 40 more in six months. It claims to be attracting one lakh visitors per month and is hoping to increase this number to a million in six months.
The firm already counts NIIT Ltd, Educomp, Hughes Education, Sikkim Manipal University, LPU, Symbiosis University, IMT Ghaziabad as its clients.
